Virtual reality. It’s here, and if the New York Times is any indicator, it’s soon to be a full-blown storytelling platform capable of transporting viewers to the scenes of news stories like never before.

Now that Google, Facebook and GoPro’s Kolor host 360 videos, and Google Cardboard offers a super cheap way to view them, VR should be considered part of a progressive multimedia journalists toolkit.
